DA Opposes Making a Record of Grand Jury Proceedings<br><h6 >My Columbia Basin</h6>

HEPPNER, Oregon – The Oregon Legislature failed last session in its attempt to require audio recordings of all grand jury proceedings. The Oregon District Attorneys Association rallied against the measure. Now Morrow County District Attorney Justin Nelson said that he finds himself fighting the same measure, now called Senate Bill 496.

“It’s got the same presenters – the same people saying the system is broken without any real facts of how the system can be broken,” he said. “Why would they want to record grand jury testimony besides using it against the victims constantly?”
